Double podium for Taylor Mackenzie & second place in the championship reclaimed
Taylor Mackenzie Qualified in second position for todays two 16 lap races in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 championship, and promptly got involved in a fierce battle for race wins in both races. After some unfortunate timing with back markers in race 1 and a small mistake in race 2, Mackenzie came away with a pair of third place finishes to elevate him to second overall in the championship.
Mackenzie (P3 & P3 – Championship P2 ): “We went back to the settings we had for last year when we were here, and immediately went nearly one second quicker in qualifying. In the race, it was that close between us at the front, that to be honest, any of us could have won. I came off worse with the back markers in race one, and I made a small mistake in race two after leading for 14 laps, and just didn’t quite have enough to get back to the front.
I’m really pleased to have moved up in the championship, and being able to compete right at the front as the leading BMW rider in the class. It’s so competitive right now, my race time was 11 seconds faster than in 2016 when I won the championship. We’ll make a couple of small changes to the K-Tech suspension for tomorrows race, and try again”.
